Conde Nast recently came out and said they are cutting 80 jobs and shutting down the print edition of Teen Vogue! It’s about time. For years Teen Vogue has printed insanely inappropriate content talking about issues they had no right discussing with children.
Issues encouraging teens to have sex. Encouraging young girls to get abortions. And even talking about the best gifts to give to celebrate abortion!
Are people finally fed up? Are parents drawing a line in the sand and refusing to let Teen Vogue have access to their children?
I’m glad to see Teen Vogue lose their print edition because this magazine should never have been in the hands of young girls. Teen Vogue didn’t focus on fashion, they targeted young girls and boys and pushed their agenda. A violent, disgusting agenda. No teen magazine should be glamorizing or supporting abortion. In one of their articles titled, “What to Get a Friend Post-Abortion”, they were telling young girls to buy their friends inappropriate gag gifts after her abortion. Thankfully, thousands of people realized how terrible this article was and Teen Vogue received a LOT of backlash.
Teen Vogue is dangerous because if young girls read articles like this, they grow up thinking abortion is no big deal. Then if they find themselves in a situation with an unplanned pregnancy, their first reaction will be to reach out to Planned Parenthood, because that is what Teen Vogue told them to do when they were thirteen. They will grow up thinking abortion is an easy, simple solution.
Abortion is traumatic, damaging, and heartbreaking. It’s not empowering. What girls need to hear is that there are people who will support them when they choose life. Girls need to hear that they are strong. They are capable. And they can do anything. Choosing life and being a mother takes tremendous strength. And they don’t need a magazine telling them otherwise to sell abortion.
That’s the narrative young girls should be taught.
I am thankful Teen Vogue is disappearing. It’s one less abusive platform pushing a dangerous message to young girls. This is a change for the better.
